Palworld server settings: reference and profile generator for friends
Palworld dedicated-server settings live in PalWorldSettings.ini, on one OptionSettings line. This page lists 123 keys with their default value as written in the sample file that ships with the official dedicated server (122 keys, build 25247047), and the ranges the official docs state. The value type is the form of that shipped default. 23 of the keys are in the shipped file but not in the official docs table: they are marked, and their effect is either our reading of the name or not documented. The page then builds a complete settings file for a group of 2 to 10 friends from five profiles and a few sliders, and you can paste your own line to see which keys are unknown or differ from the defaults.
Unofficial, not affiliated with Pocketpair. Palworld is a trademark of its owner. Unofficial reference, written in our own words.
Official docs version 1.0.4 and the shipped sample file of the dedicated server (Steam app 2394010, public branch, build 25247047), both read 7 October 2026. Defaults and value forms: VERIFIED FROM PRIMARY SOURCE (the shipped DefaultPalWorldSettings.ini, whose own comment calls it a sample of the default server settings). Key names of the official table, stated ranges and the effect paraphrases: VERIFIED FROM PRIMARY SOURCE (official docs), except sentences marked INFERRED or “by its name”. Everything else in the install was not read. Nothing was tested in a running game: whether the game accepts a short line is UNTESTED.
Where the file is and how to edit it
The official docs give a location for the Windows Steam install (VERIFIED FROM PRIMARY SOURCE, 7 October 2026). The shipped sample file names the Linux location (VERIFIED FROM PRIMARY SOURCE, build 25247047, 7 October 2026), relative to the server folder. We did not confirm that the SteamCMD folder shares the Windows path (UNVERIFIED):
- Windows with Steam (official docs):
steamapps\common\PalServer\Pal\Saved\Config\WindowsServer\PalWorldSettings.ini - Linux, from the server folder (shipped file):
Pal/Saved/Config/LinuxServer/PalWorldSettings.ini
- Stop the server. The official pages we read do not say this; hosting guides do, because edits made while the server runs can be overwritten when it shuts down (secondary, 7 October 2026).
- Copy DefaultPalWorldSettings.ini to the location above and edit the copy. The official docs say to copy the default file and use that, and that editing DefaultPalWorldSettings.ini itself has no effect (VERIFIED FROM PRIMARY SOURCE).
- Inside the copy, all settings sit on one line: [/Script/Pal.PalGameWorldSettings] on the first line, then OptionSettings=(Key=Value,Key=Value,...). Keep it on a single line. This is the format of the shipped sample file (VERIFIED FROM PRIMARY SOURCE, build 25247047, 7 October 2026).
- Start the server and check in game.
The shipped sample file also says that changes to it are not reflected on the server: it is a template. Whether the game accepts a SHORT line that holds only a few keys and fills in the rest is UNTESTED: we did not run the server, and the official pages we read do not say. That is why the generator writes the FULL line by default (every shipped default, with your profile’s keys changed). To keep an existing server’s other values, paste your own line (or file) into the box under the generator and press the merge button, which writes the chosen keys into your line and leaves every other value as it was.
SECONDARY, UNVERIFIED (we did not run the server): some hosting guides report that once a world has been created, the game reads its rates from a WorldOption.sav file in the save folder rather than from the ini, so an edited ini may seem to do nothing. Neither the official pages nor the shipped sample mention this. If your changes do not apply, look for that file (secondary, 7 October 2026).
Five friends profiles
These are our own suggestions for 2 to 10 friends, not Pocketpair’s: a starting point. Each card shows the keys the profile changes, for 4 players; the copy button copies the FULL file, every other key at its shipped default. The generator below changes it. Every profile key exists in the shipped sample file. No value breaks a range the docs state; most keys have no stated range, so the value is our choice (OUR RECOMMENDATION, not tested in game). We never write bIsUseBackupSaveData (the official page says it increases disk load), MaxBuildingLimitNum, PalEggDefaultHatchingTime or bAutoResetGuildNoOnlinePlayers.
PvP: the official PvP page says PvP is enabled by setting three keys to True (bIsPvP, bEnablePlayerToPlayerDamage, bEnableDefenseOtherGuildPlayer) and calls it only a trial feature that support does not cover (VERIFIED FROM PRIMARY SOURCE, 7 October 2026). The PvP profile and the PvP slider write all three.
Relaxed co-op
For a group that plays a few evenings a week and does not want death or hunger to get in the way.
Keys changed (8):
OptionSettings=(ServerPlayerMaxNum=4,bIsPvP=False,DeathPenalty=None,ExpRate=2.000000,GuildPlayerMaxNum=4,PalCaptureRate=1.500000,PalStomachDecreaceRate=0.700000,PlayerStomachDecreaceRate=0.700000)Faster progression
For a group with little time that wants to see the late game without a long grind.
Keys changed (8):
OptionSettings=(ServerPlayerMaxNum=4,bIsPvP=False,CollectionDropRate=2.000000,DeathPenalty=Item,EnemyDropItemRate=1.500000,ExpRate=3.000000,GuildPlayerMaxNum=4,PalCaptureRate=2.000000)Hardcore-lite
A tougher game with real death costs, without the full hardcore mode.
Keys changed (8):
OptionSettings=(ServerPlayerMaxNum=4,bEnableFastTravelOnlyBaseCamp=True,bIsPvP=False,DeathPenalty=ItemAndEquipment,EquipmentDurabilityDamageRate=1.500000,ExpRate=1.000000,GuildPlayerMaxNum=4,PlayerStomachDecreaceRate=1.300000)No-PvP builders
For a group that mostly builds: no PvP, no raids on the base, gentler wear on structures.
Keys changed (10):
OptionSettings=(ServerPlayerMaxNum=4,bAllowEnemyCampSpawnNearBaseCamp=False,bEnableInvaderEnemy=False,bIsPvP=False,BuildObjectDamageRate=0.500000,BuildObjectDeteriorationDamageRate=0.500000,CollectionDropRate=2.000000,DeathPenalty=Item,GuildPlayerMaxNum=4,ItemWeightRate=0.500000)Friendly PvP
For a group that wants to duel each other, with a moderate death cost. Writes the three keys the official PvP page lists to enable PvP, which calls PvP a trial feature not covered by support.
Keys changed (7):
OptionSettings=(ServerPlayerMaxNum=4,bIsPvP=True,DeathPenalty=Item,ExpRate=2.000000,GuildPlayerMaxNum=4,bEnablePlayerToPlayerDamage=True,bEnableDefenseOtherGuildPlayer=True)Generate your settings line
Pick a profile, then override what you want. Empty fields are not changed. The default result is the FULL file: all shipped defaults, with your profile’s keys changed (the safe route, since we did not test whether the game accepts a short line). The short line, with only the changed keys, comes after it as a secondary output.
Players sets ServerPlayerMaxNum and GuildPlayerMaxNum. The official docs state no range for the multipliers we write, so the XP range here is our own limit. The official table says raising the Pals-per-base value increases processing load. Numbers are written in the form of the shipped file (six decimals for decimals).
Full file (default output)
The full file replaces everything: it also puts back the shipped value of any setting you changed before (name, ports, passwords). AdminPassword and ServerPassword are written empty, as shipped, so set them yourself. For a server you already run, use the merge box below instead. Stop the server before pasting it.
Short line, changed keys only (secondary, untested)
Same keys, one per line
Short line: it holds only the keys changed above. Whether the game accepts a short line is UNTESTED (we did not run the server). The safe routes are the full file above, or pasting your own line below and merging this profile into it.
Check an existing settings line
Paste your OptionSettings line (or the whole file). We sort the keys into known from the official table, known from the shipped sample only, and unknown, then list values in an unusual form for the shipped type, values outside a stated range, deprecated keys, and differences from the shipped defaults (numbers compare as numbers, so 1.0 equals 1.000000). The merge button writes the profile and sliders chosen above into your text: existing keys get the new value, missing keys are appended, every other value stays as it is. Everything runs in your browser; nothing is sent anywhere. Passwords are never displayed (shown as ****) but stay in the text you copy, so clear them before sharing it.
All 123 keys
96 keys come from the official configuration table, 4 from the official PvP page and 23 only from the shipped sample file; 122 keys are in the shipped file, and 1 key (AllowConnectPlatform) is documented but not in the sample. Of the 123 keys, 122 show their default as written in the shipped file (VERIFIED FROM PRIMARY SOURCE; the file calls itself a sample of the default settings). The type is the form of that default; only AllowConnectPlatform’s type is inferred. The range is shown only when the official description states it. Explanations paraphrase the official description in our own words; for the 23 sample-only keys they are our reading of the key name (INFERRED) or say that the effect is not documented. The “Friends server” note is our opinion for a small private group, not a measurement or the developer’s recommendation.
123 keys shown out of 123
BaseCampMaxNumCaps the number of bases on the whole server.
Friends server (our opinion). A small group is unlikely to reach a server-wide cap, so leave it unless you see slowdowns.
BaseCampMaxNumInGuildMaximum number of bases one guild can own. The official table gives a default of 4 and a maximum of 10 for 1.0.4.
Friends server (our opinion). Friends usually share one guild, so this is your base budget. Raise it only if you really want more bases, since each one adds load.
BaseCampWorkerMaxNumMaximum number of Pals working at one base (50 at most). The official table says raising it increases processing load.
Friends server (our opinion). Raise it a little if your base feels cramped, and watch how the server behaves before going further.
ItemContainerForceMarkDirtyIntervalSeconds between forced re-syncs of a container’s contents while a player has its screen open.
Friends server (our opinion). Technical tuning. Leave it alone unless you are chasing a specific problem.
MaxBuildingLimitNumBuilding count cap per player; 0 means unlimited.
Friends server (our opinion). A big base costs the server more work. The official PvP example sets a cap of 1000, which it describes as reducing server strain. Our profiles leave it untouched.
PhysicsActiveDropItemMaxNumUpper limit on dropped items that keep their physics behaviour.
Friends server (our opinion). Leave it alone unless item drops cause lag.
ServerReplicatePawnCullDistanceHow far from a player, in centimetres (5000 to 15000), Pals are still synchronised to that player.
Friends server (our opinion). A lower value should mean less work for the server, at the price of seeing less far (INFERRED). Only touch it if the server struggles.
AdminPasswordThe password that grants admin rights on the server.
Friends server (our opinion). Set a long one and never paste it into a public place. Our generator does not write it. Secret: never share it.
AllowConnectPlatformNot available in this version; the official table points to CrossplayPlatforms instead.
Friends server (our opinion). Do not use it in a new file.
bAllowClientModLets players who run mods on their side join the server.
Friends server (our opinion). Leave it alone unless your group has agreed to play with mods.
bEnableBuildingPlayerUIdDisplayShows the builder’s player ID on structures.
Friends server (our opinion). Mostly useful with strangers around; between friends it rarely matters.
bIsShowJoinLeftMessageShows a message when a player joins or leaves.
Friends server (our opinion). Handy to see when a friend logs on; keep it on.
bIsUseBackupSaveDataTurns on world backups in a backup folder. The official page warns that this increases disk load; its note lists 5 saves per 30 seconds, 6 per 10 minutes, 12 per hour and 7 per day.
Friends server (our opinion). A safety net for a world you care about, paid for with more disk load (official). Our opinion: worth it on a normal disk; our profiles leave it untouched, so add it yourself if you want it.
ChatPostLimitPerMinuteCap on how many chat messages are allowed per minute.
Friends server (our opinion). Not needed among friends.
CrossplayPlatformsThe platforms allowed to connect. The official table lists Steam, Xbox, PS5 and Mac as the default.
Friends server (our opinion). Narrow it only if you want to exclude a platform on purpose.
LogFormatTypeFormat of the server log: Text or Json.
Friends server (our opinion). Text is easier to read by eye.
PublicIPFor community servers: the external public IP address to announce explicitly.
Friends server (our opinion). Only relevant if you list the server publicly.
PublicPortFor community servers: the external public port to announce explicitly.
Friends server (our opinion). Only relevant if you list the server publicly.
RCONEnabledTurns the remote console (RCON) on or off.
Friends server (our opinion). Keep it off unless you use a tool that needs it, and protect it with the admin password.
RCONPortThe port of the remote console.
Friends server (our opinion). Only matters if RCON is on.
RESTAPIEnabledTurns the server REST API on or off.
Friends server (our opinion). Keep it off unless a tool you use needs it.
RESTAPIPortThe port of the REST API.
Friends server (our opinion). Only matters if the REST API is on.
ServerDescriptionFree text describing the server.
Friends server (our opinion). Cosmetic.
ServerNameThe name of the server.
Friends server (our opinion). Cosmetic, but a clear name helps friends find the right server.
ServerPasswordThe password players type to join.
Friends server (our opinion). Set one for a private group. Our generator does not write it. Secret: never share it.
ServerPlayerMaxNumThe maximum number of players on the server. The official table states no range.
Friends server (our opinion). Set it to your group size plus one or two spare seats. The generator uses your player count.
AutoResetGuildTimeNoOnlinePlayersHow long a guild can stay offline before the guild reset triggers.
Friends server (our opinion). Check this one before a long break. Together with bAutoResetGuildNoOnlinePlayers it can delete your structures and base Pals.
bAllowEnemyCampSpawnNearBaseCampBy its name, allows enemy camps to appear near your base.
Friends server (our opinion). Turn it off if you want a calmer area around your base.
bAllowEnhanceStat_AttackWhether the attack stat can be upgraded.
Friends server (our opinion). Leave on for co-op.
bAllowEnhanceStat_HealthWhether the health stat can be upgraded.
Friends server (our opinion). Leave on for co-op.
bAllowEnhanceStat_StaminaWhether the stamina stat can be upgraded.
Friends server (our opinion). Leave on for co-op.

Friends server (our opinion). Leave on for co-op.
bAllowEnhanceStat_WorkSpeedWhether the work-speed stat can be upgraded.
Friends server (our opinion). Leave on for co-op.
bAllowGlobalPalboxExportAllows saving Pals to the Global Palbox.
Friends server (our opinion). Leave it alone unless your group wants to move Pals between worlds.
bAllowGlobalPalboxImportAllows loading Pals from the Global Palbox.
Friends server (our opinion). Leave it alone unless your group wants to move Pals between worlds.
bAutoResetGuildNoOnlinePlayersIf no member of a guild logs in, automatically deletes that guild’s structures and base Pals. The delay is presumably AutoResetGuildTimeNoOnlinePlayers (INFERRED).
Friends server (our opinion). Destructive: for a world you come back to after a holiday, you probably want it off. Our profiles do not touch it; the shipped sample default is False.
bBuildAreaLimitPrevents building near structures such as fast-travel points.
Friends server (our opinion). Builders may prefer it off; the official PvP guide suggests it on.
bCharacterRecreateInHardcoreWhether a player may recreate their character after dying in Hardcore mode.
Friends server (our opinion). Only relevant with bHardcore on.
bDisplayPvPItemNumOnWorldMap_BaseCampShows on the map how many PvP-exclusive items each base holds.
Friends server (our opinion). PvP only.
bDisplayPvPItemNumOnWorldMap_PlayerShows player positions and PvP-exclusive item counts on the map.
Friends server (our opinion). PvP only.
bEnableFastTravelAllows fast travel between points on the map.
Friends server (our opinion). Keep it on unless you want long walks to matter.
bEnableFastTravelOnlyBaseCampAllows fast travel only between bases.
Friends server (our opinion). A middle path for groups who want some travel cost.
bEnableInvaderEnemyEnables the Invader feature; the official description says nothing more. We read it as enemy raids on your base (INFERRED).
Friends server (our opinion). Turn it off if base defence is not what your group came for.
bEnableVoiceChatTurns in-game voice chat on or off.
Friends server (our opinion). Skip it if your group already talks on another app.
bExistPlayerAfterLogoutWhether a player’s character stays at its spot in a sleeping state after the player logs out.
Friends server (our opinion). Usually off between friends; the official PvP guide turns it on.
bHardcoreTurns on hardcore mode.
Friends server (our opinion). Check what hardcore means for your characters before using it; our hardcore-lite profile does not use it.
bInvisibleOtherGuildBaseCampAreaFXBy its name, hides the area effect of other guilds’ bases.
Friends server (our opinion). Cosmetic for a one-guild group.
bIsPvPTurns player-versus-player on. The official table calls it “Enable PvP”.
Friends server (our opinion). Off for co-op groups, on if your friends want to fight each other.
bIsRandomizerPalLevelRandomTrue: wild Pal levels are fully random. False: random within the range of the area.
Friends server (our opinion). Only for randomizer runs.
bIsStartLocationSelectByMapWhether players may choose where they start.
Friends server (our opinion). Handy when friends want to start together.
bShowPlayerListShows the list of players.
Friends server (our opinion). Keep it on among friends.

Friends server (our opinion). Only for randomizer runs.
RandomizerTypeRandomizer mode: None, Region or All.
Friends server (our opinion). None keeps the normal game.

BlockRespawnTimeSeconds a player must wait before respawning after dying.
Friends server (our opinion). Leave it alone in co-op.
bPalLostPals that die are lost permanently.
Friends server (our opinion). A harsh option; keep it off unless the group wants that kind of stakes.
BuildObjectDamageRateA multiplier for damage dealt to structures.
Friends server (our opinion). Lower it if you want bases to be hard to wreck.
BuildObjectDeteriorationDamageRateA multiplier for the wear structures take over time.
Friends server (our opinion). Lower it if you do not want to come back to a decayed base.
CollectionDropRateA multiplier for what you get when gathering resources.
Friends server (our opinion). Raise it to cut the grind, since friends have less time than a solo grinder.
CollectionObjectHpRateA multiplier for the health of gatherable objects such as trees and rocks.
Friends server (our opinion). Lower it to gather faster (INFERRED).
CollectionObjectRespawnSpeedRateA multiplier on the respawn interval of gatherable objects.
Friends server (our opinion). The official text says “interval”, so which direction speeds up respawns is not verified (INFERRED either way). Test before relying on it.
DayTimeSpeedRateSpeed of daytime progression, as a multiplier. The official table says “Daytime progression speed”.
Friends server (our opinion). A lower value should make days last longer in real time (INFERRED).
DeathPenaltyWhat a death costs you. None: you keep everything. Item: you lose your items but keep equipped gear. ItemAndEquipment: you lose all items, equipment included. All: you also lose the Pals on your team.
Friends server (our opinion). The main comfort setting. None or Item suits a relaxed group; All makes every death costly.
DenyTechnologyListA list of technology IDs players cannot unlock. The official example is (“PALBOX”, “RepairBench”); the IDs are on the official technology page.
Friends server (our opinion). Leave it empty unless your group wants a self-imposed limit.
EnemyDropItemRateA multiplier for items dropped by enemies.
Friends server (our opinion). Raise it a little for faster progression.
EquipmentDurabilityDamageRateA multiplier for how fast equipment wears out.
Friends server (our opinion). Lower it to repair less, raise it for a tougher game (INFERRED).
ExpRateExperience gain multiplier. The official table says “EXP gain multiplier”.
Friends server (our opinion). The easiest way to match the pace to your play time. A few hours a week usually calls for more than the default.
FishingDifficultyRateA multiplier for how hard fishing is. The official table gives a range of 0.1 to 1.0.
Friends server (our opinion). Lower values mean easier fishing (INFERRED).
GuildPlayerMaxNumThe maximum number of players in a guild.
Friends server (our opinion). Make sure it is at least your group size so everyone fits in one guild.
GuildRejoinCooldownMinutesA wait in minutes before a player can rejoin a guild.

Friends server (our opinion). Lower it to spend less time managing inventory.
MonsterFarmActionSpeedRateA multiplier for the speed of ranch (monster farm) actions.
Friends server (our opinion). Raise it for faster ranch output.
NightTimeSpeedRateSpeed of night-time progression, as a multiplier.
Friends server (our opinion). A higher value should shorten nights (INFERRED).
PalAutoHPRegeneRateA multiplier for the natural health regeneration of Pals.
Friends server (our opinion). Raise it to cut waiting between fights.
PalAutoHpRegeneRateInSleepA multiplier for the health regeneration of Pals while they sleep.
Friends server (our opinion). Leave at the default unless you tune recovery.

Friends server (our opinion). Raise it so catching Pals takes fewer tries.
PalDamageRateAttackA multiplier for the damage Pals deal.
Friends server (our opinion). Raise it for an easier game.
PalDamageRateDefenseA multiplier for the damage Pals take.
Friends server (our opinion). Lower it for sturdier Pals.
PalEggDefaultHatchingTimeHours needed to hatch a Huge Egg; the official text says other eggs also need time to incubate.
Friends server (our opinion). Per the official text it concerns the Huge Egg only, so it is no general egg speed-up. Our profiles do not set it.
PalSpawnNumRateA multiplier for the number of wild Pals that appear.
Friends server (our opinion). Higher values mean more creatures to handle for the server, so raise with care.
PalStaminaDecreaceRateA multiplier for how fast Pals lose stamina.
Friends server (our opinion). Leave at the default unless you tune difficulty.
PalStomachDecreaceRateA multiplier for how fast Pals get hungry.
Friends server (our opinion). Lower it for less feeding between sessions.

Friends server (our opinion). Lower it to make players sturdier.
PlayerStaminaDecreaceRateA multiplier for how fast players lose stamina.
Friends server (our opinion). Lower it for less stopping to recover.
PlayerStomachDecreaceRateA multiplier for how fast players get hungry.
Friends server (our opinion). Lower it if food management is not why your group plays.
RespawnPenaltyDurationThresholdA survival time in seconds that decides whether the respawn cooldown multiplier applies after the next death. The official PvP page shows a worked example: a 5 s wait that doubles per death and resets after 1800 s.
Friends server (our opinion). The official PvP guide sets it with RespawnPenaltyTimeScale; leave both alone in co-op.
RespawnPenaltyTimeScaleA multiplier applied to the respawn cooldown (see RespawnPenaltyDurationThreshold).
Friends server (our opinion). Leave it alone in co-op.
SupplyDropSpanTime in minutes between supply drops, going by its unit in the official table.
Friends server (our opinion). Shorter spans mean more drops (INFERRED).
bEnablePlayerToPlayerDamageLets players damage each other. Documented on the official PvP page, not in the main table.
Friends server (our opinion). Only meaningful with PvP on.
bEnableDefenseOtherGuildPlayerThe third key the official PvP page sets to True to enable PvP. The main table has no description for it; the PvP page’s note says base Pals will engage players trespassing in a base (the link to this key is INFERRED from the note).
Friends server (our opinion). PvP only.
bEnableAimAssistPadController aim assist, listed on the official PvP page.
Friends server (our opinion). Relevant for players on controllers.
bCanPickupOtherGuildDeathPenaltyDropWhether other guilds may pick up what a player dropped on death, listed on the official PvP page.

FAQ
Where is PalWorldSettings.ini?
In the server folder under Pal/Saved/Config, in WindowsServer or LinuxServer depending on the system (the Windows Steam path is from the official docs, the Linux path from the shipped sample file; full paths at the top of this page). The folder only exists once the server has been started at least once (VERIFIED FROM PRIMARY SOURCE: stated on the official 1.0.4 page, 7 October 2026).
Why are my Palworld server settings not applying?
The official docs say that editing DefaultPalWorldSettings.ini has no effect: copy it to PalWorldSettings.ini and edit the copy. Hosting guides add that you should stop the server before editing, and keep the whole OptionSettings on a single line (secondary). SECONDARY, UNVERIFIED: hosts also report that an existing world may read its rates from WorldOption.sav instead of the ini; we have not tested this.
Does the generator write every setting?
Yes by default: its main output is the full file, all keys of the shipped sample at their shipped default, with the profile’s keys changed. A short line holding only the changed keys is offered as a secondary output; whether the game accepts it is UNTESTED. To keep the other values of a server you already run, use the merge button, which writes the chosen keys into your own line and leaves every other value untouched.
How many players should I allow?
The official table states no range for ServerPlayerMaxNum. The generator uses your group size, from 2 to 10, which is our own limit for this tool.

Every key name of the official table, stated range and effect paraphrase is from the first two pages above. Defaults and value forms are from the sample file shipped with the dedicated server (build 25247047), which says it is a sample of the default settings; the other files of that install were not read. The one-line format, the section header and the Linux path are from that file too. Effect sentences paraphrase the official description in our own words (a few short phrases are quoted and marked); those that say INFERRED or “by its name” are our reading, and keys marked “effect not documented” have no description we could find. Whether the game accepts a short line, WorldOption.sav precedence and the effect of changing a value were not tested: we did not run the server. We copied no table, image or logo from the official docs. The docs describe version 1.0.4 and may change.
